Master bedroom sleeps two, second bedroom sleep 3 kids in bunk beds. Lower bunk is a full. Loft has a futon. There also is a small cabin on the property where you can also sleep 2.

Breakaway Getaway is located in Syria, VA, and only a one mile walk to the lower parking lot of White Oak Canyon and a very short drive to Old Rag for some of the best hiking in VA just under 2 hours from DC. Like to fly fish? Some great fly fishing streams in the heart of Syria. The cabin sits on 3.5 acres with the Robinson River running right behind it.

Like to exercise?  Bring your bikes and go for a ride through peaceful Syria, VA.

Want to do nothing when you Breakaway? Grab a chair, sit in front of the fire pit, grab a drink and just listen to the river flow through. No traffic, no noise and no stress!

Details: The cabin is furnished with coffee maker and filters, toaster, dishes, pots and pans, pillows, sheets, blankets, and towels. It is also furnished with dish soap, paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo, and bath soap. Just bring food! The bathroom has a combination tub/shower. In addition, we have a large yard with a propane grill, fire pit, roasting sticks, and games for your enjoyment. We also have to pack and plays for the little ones. Firewood is provided for your convenience. And for added convenience, there is a washer and dryer.

Guests have full access to the cabin, small cabin and yard with river access to the Robinson River. The cabin is located within 1 mile walking distance to the lower trail heads of some of the best hiking trails in the Blue Ridge Mountains – White Oak Canyon Hiking Trail and Falls and Cedar Run Hiking Trail. Old Rag Mountain Hiking Trail is another 1/2 mile up the mountain.

The cabin is very remote and wildlife is abundant. White tailed deer are prevalent in this area around dusk and at night. Also, it is not unusual for bears to come strolling past the cottage during June, July, and August..

Other Things to Note

TV/DVD Player/Internet:

A 32″ flat screen TV and DVD player are provided in the cottage. No TV service but you can watch DVD’s. Wi-Fi service is provided to keep you in touch.

Please note that there are no cell phone towers in the area and therefore no cell phone coverage. You have to drive about 10 miles to obtain cell phone reception. The cabin is provided with a phone for calling locally and in case of emergency. We will provide the phone number once the cabin is reserved.

  1. There is no smoking in the cabin. Thank you for not smoking!
  2. Do not feed the black bears or deer.
  3. Do not start a fire in the fire pit if it is windy or dry.
  4. Please take all food and drinks home with you.
  5. Please leave garbage in the trash containers or in the shed when you have filled up the trash can. Animals will get into it if left outside. All trash should leave with you.
  6. Please be cautious around rock piles, brush, and wood piles as there could be rattle snakes in these areas.
  7. Please wash and dry and put away the dishes prior to your departure.
